• Also japanese made silk stockings were no longer avalible so stockings made of a synthetic material called nylon became popular
• Women on the homefront had to ration things such as food, shoes and gas based on the size of their famlies they were given coupons for a certain amount and they were not allowed to buy more than the coupon alotted
